Report of Poetry Recitation Competition on Theme of Family Love

            English Department organized poetry Recitation Competition on Theme of Family Love on 13th of March in English Department. English department took this activity under Best practice of department. Because of this students can understand various types of poetry. The competition was in multilingual which gave students comfort atmosphere. This was third year of best practice. 36 students were present for the program. The program started at 9:00 o. clock. 21 students have participated in competition. Vice principal of our college Dr.A.S. Tawar was chief guest. He gave motivation to students to compose poems. In his presidential speech he spoke on literatures importance. The experts for the competition were Mr. kamble sir (English) Dr. Bandgar sir (Hindi) Dr. Pawar mam (Marathi). The program was smoothly conducted by students of English department. Shivani pawar made anchoring of program and shubhangi Ghadage propose vote of thanks. First prize was given to Prerana Pimpale Second prize was given to Pranali Salunkhe forth prize was given to Shubhangi Ghadage. The prize distribution was done by Dr.P.C. Chikmath Mam. All the faculties of department and college were present for the program  





 Lead College Workshop on "English & Soft Skills"

            The Department of English at Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Arts, Science & Commerce organized a Lead College Workshop focusing on "English & Soft Skills." The program aimed to enhance the language proficiency and soft skills of students, aligning with the holistic development goals of the institution.

   The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by all dignitaries, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. Dr. P. P. Lohar, the coordinator of the workshop, welcomed the participants and provided an overview of the program's objectives, emphasizing the importance of English proficiency and soft skills in today's competitive world. Dr. P. P. Lohar introduced the esteemed resource person, Mr. Rajendra Tambile, highlighting his expertise in English language teaching and soft skills development.

   Mr. Rajendra Tambile conducted an interactive and engaging workshop, covering various aspects of English language enhancement and soft skills development. The session included practical exercises, group discussions, and real-world scenarios to equip participants with practical skills.

   Dr. P. C. Chikmath, presiding over the event, delivered a motivating presidential speech. He underscored the importance of continuously developing English language proficiency and soft skills to enhance students' employability and overall success in their chosen fields.

   Mr. S. A. Kamble expressed gratitude to all participants, the Department of English, Mr. Rajendra Tambile, and Dr. P. C. Chikmath for their valuable contributions to the success of the workshop. He encouraged participants to apply the skills acquired in their academic and professional journeys.

The workshop saw active participation from 94 students, teaching, and non-teaching staff, showcasing the widespread interest in enhancing language proficiency and soft skills.

The Lead College Workshop on "English & Soft Skills" proved to be a valuable initiative, providing participants with practical tools for personal and professional development. The Department of English, along with the support of Dr. P. C. Chikmath and Mr. Rajendra Tambile, successfully created a conducive learning environment for skill enhancement. Heartfelt thanks were extended to all attendees, organizers, and the resource person for their significant contributions to the success of this insightful and skill-oriented workshop.

 Department of English organized a Poster Presentation on ‘Career Opportunities in English’ on 26th August  2023.Students described various Career Opportunities after completing B.A. and M.A. in English. Total 15 students participated in the Poster Presentation.

Hon. Dr. Suhas Salunkhe, former Principal of Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Arts, Science and Commerce was the Chief Guest for this Poster Presentation He appreciated students’ posters and also encouraged and guidedthem to develop language skills. Principal, Dr. R. V. Shejwal Sir, Principal, Dr. Mahesh Gaikwad, Dr. A. S. Tawar, Dr. P. P. Lohar, Mr. S. A. Kamble, Dr. R. B. Rathod, Mr. S. S. Shelar were present in the Poster Presentation. Guidance for Poster presentation was given by Miss. M. B. Sutar.

Summary:

The Shroud is story by Hindi-Urdu writer MunchiPremchand. On this story Doordarshan made a film titled Kafan. It is a case of film adaptation of literary piece. All students participated in discussion after the screening.
